Mary Poppins is a fictional character created by author, P.L. Travers.

She is a mysterious woman who has magical powers… She enters the lives of the Banks’ family at 17 Cherry Tree Lane as their nanny. Nothing is ever really the same for family after that.
The illustrator of the original books was Mary Shepard, daughter of E.H. Shepard, who illustrated Winnie-the-Pooh by A.A. Milne and The Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Grahame.
Although the books were very popular at the time, it was later depictions of the Mary Poppins character in film and stage that have ensured the character’s worldwide fame now and in the future.
